I wish I could draw a picture here
to tell you how I feel.
To tell you how I scratch and zag
through lines that aren't real.
To tell you things that can't be said,
and things that no one knows.
To draw a line between the words
and motions of the show.
I wish you'd read my words tonight
and see my drawings too.
I wish you cared a little bit,
a little more than you do...
I wish you could see through meekly smiles
and forced out laughs and prayers;
see through the stillness and the warmth
and all that isn't there.
I wish I could draw a picture here,
a vision of my mind
to tell you who I am tonight
and who I'm not behind.
