Decode Me

I am a puzzle
left for the reader
to understand:
filled with riddles
and puddles,
and endless rhymes,
not elaborate, nor grand,
nor ringing with chimes.
I am a song,
a poem,
a piece
of stories
of these.
I am a puzzle,
left for them
to decipher
and please.
I am a human,
a penguin,
a cat,
a machine.
I have no stories,
or thoughts,
or bursting ideas.
I am a shadow
of color and doubt,
unreleased,
twisted and bent,
perversed by deep freeze.
I need no emotion,
no trails or receipt.
I want no rewards
or hopes or defeat.
I am a puzzle,
a penguin,
human.
Lest you understand.
