Ash

You took me from start,
held my hand
and I cried.
I missed you from then,
from those days filled with lies.
The scars flood the page
and the tempests beat down
where once stood a girl
now bloodied with heart.
She held out her hand.
I'll hold out a knife.
Together we know
what once was,
turned to lie.
A vow never made.
A string never strung.
An empty forgetting
of deeds I've since done
will fill up the grave.
It'll hold dirt in place.
It'll cover the tombstone
and wash my stone face.
In death do us part;
hold my hand
and I'll start.
I'll turn to the ash
my cold tears
and your scars.
